The Way of the Warrior is Bruises

Jan 23, 2007 09:48

New icon today to celebrate that last night, after a 3-year absence, I dusted off and put on my armor (and boy was it dusty!). And yes, I actually had a very good time. Rusty and clumsy as heck, but you know, some of that old "riding a bicycle" thing is true. I fought one series of bouts with local chiv, Sir Isenwolf (sp), then kicked around with ( Read more... )

Me too. You and I both need to just have fun in SCA, I think.

Oh but I did. And I sympathized. That is why I gave up my old steel vambraces a long time ago. It's no big deal - just takes time to iron out the kinks in your kit. Heck, I still have things about my armor I should improve. So, if you want to fight, try to think about what on HIS suit is working and what isn't and what you think you would want/need. Try to be clever about it up front. Also, you can start training slowly and thus avoid some armor problems. You'll find out where it could hurt, before it does hurt.

I also got a very warm welcome. I haven't been to a fighter practice since I don't remember when. I stayed way longer than I intended.

Well, that's cool. I still am unsure about getting into shire business, but maybe I'll stick my head out more if our life with baby allows it.

So don't get into business. Just have fun. I know that is hard for you, having once run events and been high muckety-muck.. but you _can_ do it. Hell, if you keep going regularly, that may just shame _me_ into going again. After all, I have that shiny spandy suit just sitting there collecting dust at the moment. :(

If your vambraces are biting you.. wear a gambezon! (I'm pretty sure you do anyway.. but maybe it just needs to be longer at the wrists?)

Oh.. and I totally know which move you took the cieling tile out with.. I remember seeing that mace thing of yours held in that position once, while facing you, and having the fear of GOD put into me. :)

Well, if you think that, I gues you don't know me very well. I have no intention of getting involved in business/politics and if it interferes with my fun, I will go elsewhere or drop out. Note that i do not consider my hospitality offerings like Brew Night or the old Asian Nights to be "business".

If you have any ithc to come fight, I would certianly encourage you. It's a shame to not use your armor.

You misunderstood. I was telling Caitine that I fixed my vambrace problem ages ago by getting ones i liked, and fit better. Collin is the guy with the armor bite.

For me anyway. :) Who was it who said, "Attack. Attack. Attack." ( ... )
