Hi all,
We went to Mt. Lassen today. It was soooo pretty. It's David's last weekend off for probably a year, so we figured we best go see some snow with the boys before it all melts. They had a ball. It was so pretty, the snow, the blue sky. I was so excited at how pretty everything was.....
This is a little creek outside of Mill Creek....David

We're diametrically opposite - it's summer here. The heat gets trapped inside the house and it's difficult to get it to leave, so I've just been outside to get some nice cool air. I've been admiring the stars in the night sky. It reminded me of my childhood when my Dad used to point out the constellations when we sat outside on hot summer nights. Unfortunately, I can't see as many as I could back then, because of the city lights.

It was really cold. This was kinda a last minute trip, so I had forgotten my warmer clothing. That's why we want to go back up a little more prepaired. I had noticed that your weather is opposite of us. We very rarely get snow here where we live, we usually have to travel a couple of hours to get to any.
Our Summers sound like yours. I can barely afford our electric bill during the hotter months. I wish we could live up where I took these photos, it always quite pleasant there.
I have always been fascinated by the stars. I remember when I was a child, Haley's Comet was the big thing, my Dad used to leave really early in the morning, so I begged him to get me up to see it. He did, but I couldn't find it....I was bummed, but it meant the world to me that he made the effort to show it to me.

Halley's Coment! Oh yes! My Dad also told me about it when I was little. He was around the last time it came over (1912), but he was too small to see it. He remembered the adults talking about it. Move on another 75 years, and when it came over again, he had passed away about 6 weeks before it appeared.
I saw it, but it was very faint. My son Bradley was six at the time, and I made a point of getting him up one night, balancing the binoculars on the fence, and showing him where to look. Not long ago he admitted that he couldn't see it, but that he'd appreciated my trying to show him.

I really needed this trip, I had been feeling rather empty lately, a lot of things have come at us all at once this year, I didn't even have the motivation to go take any photos...this trip really rejuvenated me.
I'll be posting more for your viewing pleasure! :-)

Thanks! He makes me smile all the time. Beings he's 15 and I always wonder if he gets bored on these little drives..Travis likes to take photos with me, so he keeps busy... Jared kinda just sits there. He says no,he enjoys them, he just prefers it when we take the van, there is more room. We took the Pickup and it's just not as comfy for him, he is just so tall....hehe...whenever we say "get in the truck" we a hear this ominous moan from him...
