HELLO, Emmie! (Finally!!) I'm always leaving things until they get stale, huh. :S
Kismette's parents are anyone's guess. ;) Ah well, it's nothing that mysterious. I'll probably die if everyone has a complicated backstory, haha.
Oh you bet Mejaine wished she could turn back time! It's true that she gave up Zaelem in pursuit of her dreams though. She's reaping what she sowed. Regret is indeed such a terrible thing, eh. I wonder if Evelynn could see what's happening to Mejaine now and foresee her own future. :\ (LOL! We're too far apart for you to see my thoughts! :P)
Hahaha, well, now that one villain is down, we need another one, no? XD Kidding; I don't really see Annie as a villain, just someone annoying, heh.
Oh, what I meant was that Jeremy's girl will refuse to elope with him unless he steals his father's money, meaning that she was a gold digger. :S Does it make sense now?
Oh, those bolts! I guess my game has quite an acute sense of my characters, haha!
Ah, thank you, Emmie! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! ^^
Annie is such a snob. Kismette's dress would have passed dress code at my high school even after they made it stricter. And basically saying that from now on, she can only be friends with girls? What backwards ancient world is Annie living in
( ... )
Haha, Annie is just being her picky snobby self; let's all ignore her. 8) She is very pleased that Chairon is back on her side again, though, so she's definitely gonna take her liberties with her future daughter-in-law. (Do correct me if I used "liberties" wrongly here. I'm not that sure, heh. :P) Hell yea, screw the Vikens--but you forgot that Jeremy is a Viken too
( ... )
I maintain that Jeremy is mentally not a Viken, though he's genetically one.
No, the use of liberties was correct - though some people would disagree with me, as it's an older use of the word. Appropriate for Annie, though, with her obsession with that old class structure, (and her immense actual age... at least compared to those who live outside the magic well.)
Speaking of which, have I never mentioned how interesting it is that, although the setting of your story is visually modern, there is such a huge mixture of eras and sensibilities being brought into play, beneath the surface, by the fact that the magic well keeps people alive for several times their natural life span? Histories and works of psychology could be written about it, but they don't fit in an LJ comment.
Yeah, Kismette doesn't have any social power, but she can make her own decisions. Even at the level of not saying anything, but a the same time not taking Annie's words to heart, Kismette is more emontionally fit not to cave under Annie's pressure than Evelynn
( ... )
You know what? I thought I replied you on this already, but apparently it isn't here. O_O
I, um, can't recall much of what I wanted to say, but basically, I love how you put into words what I've been trying to portray (albeit not in a very graceful way): that there are so many clashes because traditions (and the older generations) don't pass out fast enough to catch up with modern technology and stuff like that. Aaah, I should have mentioned this when people questioned, "what era is Annie living in?" :)
And I think I also wanted to reply that Kismette is a scaredy cat, but now that the next chapter is out, you know she's picking up her courage now, haha. Shucks, I could have led you through another door. :P
Hahaha, I can't help writing scenes like that for her! XD
Mejaine regrets so badly that she's losing Zaelem now. I mean, it was just a few months' difference: if only she turned back to him like 3 months ago, he would probably have forgiven her for the past 100 years' torture.
LOL! Um, I suppose it's her upbringing? Or maybe just that she values different things compared to the rest of us. XD You can be assured that she's all natural, hahaha.
Sigh, I don't know how to turn Evelynn's path of fate around. She's just too set in wanting Chairon. That and her fixation on joining the ranks of the stick skinny poster girls. :\
Annie made me want to jump through the screen once again! I hate her too! So badly I want Kismette to wise up and drop him and his stuck up mother. She can only befriend females? Who does she think she is to tell her who she can befriend? Chairon is her son but soon-to-be husband for Kismette which means she doesn't make the rules anymore!
Evenlynn! She needs help and a hug!
That book and note was sweet and I love that he knows what she likes!
Poor Jeremy! I want so badly for him to turn out to be a Jeremy relative! That way she is somehow connected to Chairon and cab't marry him! Wishful thinking!
Hahaha! Jump through the screen! Kismette is kinda still figuring out the boundaries between her and other people. She doesn't know what is right to do and, well, basically is cowardly and is afraid of stepping out of the line. :\ And you know how some parents can never let their children grow and want to take care of them forever? Chairon will always be her golden boy in Annie's eyes.
Ah, if only things were that straightforward! :P But I would say that that's missing the point here: we want Kismette to make a choice herself, yes? ;)
Ugh Annie! Ugh Chairon!!! He may care about Kismette on some level, but I actually think he thinks of her more as a prize and a possession than someone to actually share a life with. I feel so bad for Kismette being stuck in this, but I have a feeling that her honesty and strength will come to light soon enough.
The gift from Zaelem was really cute, as was that note. It made me smile in real life. :D
And Jeremy's story was so sad. To live for hundreds of years with this kind of regret must have been really hard on him.
Anyway, I'm so glad you updated, I'm still excited to see your chapters. I saw this over the weekend while skimming through my f-list but hadn't been able to get to it until today. I kind of knew that was Jeremy on your cover. I wasn't sure, but I had a hunch!
Ugh, lol! That bit about Chairon is somewhat true, actually. Which means we should be very worried now, because Kismette greatly lacks in courage. :\
Hehe, I'm glad it was worth the time drawing that book then! X)
Sigh, Jeremy. That and his vow never to start a family when he loved children. :( This makes him extra lonely.
Thank you, Mela! :) It's really a relief for me to hear that. And wow, you could guess it was Jeremy? :D I honestly don't think I would have thought it was him, haha!

Hehe, that's right. Expensive food and sparkly gems barely excite Kismette.
