this link about the boys sharing watches so I went with it. Hope you enjoy it sweetheart and that I was worth the amount you paid ;)
It wasn’t supposed to be the engagement ring, it really wasn’t. But popping the question itself was done at such a random time, Jared hadn’t even thought about a ring. He was just lying in bed, Jensen in front of him; Jared’s chest against Jensen’s back. Their fingers and legs were tangled together and they were so closely pressed against each other that you couldn’t really tell where Jared ended and Jensen began.
In that moment Jared realized that this thing with Jensen was forever. He wanted to lie in bed with him like this forever. He wanted to wake up next to the gorgeous man, no matter how cranky he was, forever. He wanted to have kids together, adoption or surrogate or who knows what else. He wanted to get old and wrinkly together. He wanted it to be them together forever.
So he just said it. “Marry me.” He didn’t even ask Jensen, he kind of just said it. Jensen was starting to fall asleep, Jared could tell by the deepening of his breath. But when Jared uttered that, Jensen’s breath started to quicken again. He could imagine Jensen’s frown of confusion, the cute look he got (not that Jared would ever tell him).
Jared could feel Jensen’s heart beating faster under their hands and he felt Jensen turn just a little to face him and he saw the raised eyebrow that meant so many things (usually dirty), but in this case it meant Are you kidding me?
But Jared was serious. Dead serious. Sure it wasn’t at an ideal moment, and he wasn’t prepared with a ring or anything, but he wanted this. He had no idea how much he wanted it until it had kind of just spilled from his mouth.
So he asked again, “Marry me?”
This time it was more of a question, and he hoped that he hadn’t misunderstood what was going on between him and Jensen. He thought Jensen was in it for the long haul too. He knew Jensen loved him, the guy never said it but it was the little things that made Jared sure of that.
The shy grin just for him when they caught eyes across the set.
The full blown laughter with eye crinkles and all when Jared was being his dorky self.
The little touches that were meant for Jared, whether it was the brushing of hands as they walked next to each other or the light kicks or the grazing of Jensen’s fingers across the nape of Jared’s neck.
Jensen always needed contact with him one way or another. To assure himself that Jared was there, that he was solid.
Jensen would usually be the one in bed forever but some days, usually weekends, he did get up earlier than Jared and make him a huge breakfast and feed it to him.
He’d buy the dogs toys or snacks and he’d always cook Jared’s favorite meals when he had a chance.
Jared never really needed to hear that Jensen loved him because he knew. Jared did say it to Jensen, not often because they were guys after all, but he would say it. And Jensen’s eyes would light up and this shy half grin would appear on his face, full of amazement, like he couldn’t believe Jared loved him.
And Jared did, he loved him enough to want to spend the rest of his life with Jensen. Jared was starting to get a little worried because Jensen still hadn’t said anything. He was just staring at Jared.
Jared nudged him a little, “Jensen?”
Jensen shook himself, like he was lost in thought. He looked into Jared’s eyes and brought a hand to the nape of Jared’s neck and pulled him in for a kiss, whispering a “Yes” just before they brushed lips. The kiss was slow and deep and filled with all the things Jensen couldn’t put into words. Jared kissed back, just as slow. He kissed back just as deep to let Jensen know he felt the exact same way.
He still didn’t have a ring for Jensen, and he wanted Jensen to have something so that he knew he was taken. He knew that Jensen would protest the jealousy and possessiveness and the fact that he was being treated like a girl. But Jared wanted something there, something for him to see in plain view that Jensen was his. Something of his on Jensen.
And he got an idea. He reached over and took off his watch. He knew Jensen liked the watch too, and until they could get rings, the watch would have to do. He unclasped it and put it on Jensen.
Jensen looked at him again with that stupid sexy raised eyebrow and Jared just shrugged,
“This for now. Then we’ll do rings ok?”
Jensen just nodded, “We’ll pick them out together, ‘k Jay?”
Jared agreed, “Yeah, together.”
A couple of weeks later, both of them had rings that they wore around their necks. Only select people knew what had happened and Jared knew the fangirls at the con would pick up on it and then it’d be out. He wanted to keep it under wraps right now. He wasn’t quite ready to shout that him and Jensen were engaged from the rooftops yet. Their parents didn’t even know and it was probably a bad idea for his career. Jensen was still wearing his watch though, and that was enough.
Jensen didn’t take off the watch unless he was playing Dean. Then he would take it off and wear Dean’s watch. But as soon as they were in wardrobe changing clothes, Jared’s watch would go back on. Even though Jensen probably thought Jared couldn’t’ see, Jensen always got this gorgeous little grin on his face when he glanced down at the watch. And Jared would just have to lean in and kiss him, or touch him at least in some way.
But Jensen was still wearing the watch, in front of the fangirls and in front of the world pretty much. He was declaring his love for Jared in his own way. It was subtle enough that few people would catch it. But it was obvious to Jared, the only one that the message needed to get across to.
