Jensen will admit that he’s a huge Harry Potter fan. Huge. He went to the midnight releases of the books and movies, and he has all this Harry Potter paraphernalia hidden away. Jensen hasn’t quite told Jared how deep his love goes for the series.
Jared knows Jensen reads the books, those he hasn’t hidden, but he doesn’t know that he goes and camps out for the books and movies. He doesn’t know that Jensen proudly dresses up in death eater garment when he goes to the releases. Jared doesn’t know that Jensen displays a temporary dark mark tattoo on his forearm.
So when the seventh movie is set to come out, Jensen wants to go geek out and wear his costume and dark mark and camp out like the Harry Potter fanboy he is. He’s just not quite sure what to tell Jared.
Jared asks to hang out that night so Jensen makes up some cockamamie story about why Jared can’t come over and how Jensen has to be alone. Jared clearly doesn’t believe him, but he goes along with Jensen’s story.
Jensen gets ready, makes sure his dark mark is perfectly dark and centered and goes out to wait in line at the nearby theatre. People have already lined up and Jensen can feel jitters run through him. This is going to be epic.
While he’s kind of older than a lot of people there, he is still younger than some others, so he doesn’t feel that out of place. His excitement is palpable and he gets over his shyness and starts talking to the other people in line.
Suddenly he hears his name.
“Jensen?”
He whips his head towards the noise, praying it isn’t who he thinks it is, but to no such luck. He knows that voice more than he knows his own. He hears many versions of that voice, from morning grogginess to passion to whining to teasing. Jared’s standing there, looking at him confusedly, like he’s waiting for Jensen to explain.
Then Jensen looks at what Jared is wearing and realizes that Jared’s dressed pretty similar to him, down to the dark mark.
“Uh, hi Jared.”
“I thought you had to wash your hair?”
Jensen has the grace to blush. “Yeah, all clean now.”
“Right. So what’s the real reason you couldn’t tell me?”
“I….didn’t know how you’d take it. I was kind of embarrassed,” Jensen said, looking down.
“Hey, does it look like I’d laugh at you? I was actually going to come over and ask if you wanted to come to this with me.”
Jensen looks up at that.
“Seriously?” he asks.
“Yeah. I thought you’d make fun of me for like five minutes, but then do it because you’re awesome like that. Did you really think I wouldn’t understand?” Jared asks, voice soft.
“No!” Jensen exclaims, reaching out for Jared. “I was being dumb. I’m really glad you’re here Jared.”
Jared walks closer and the both of them start talking about when the started liking Harry Potter and everything else. They barely noticed the line ahead of them finally move, too caught up in learning more about each other - something else they had in common after all.
