Jared knows that Jensen’s silence proves they’re on the same page. He finally took the step and asked Jensen, not just wanting to kiss the guy just in case the answer was no.
“Hold that thought,” Jared says, not wanting to do anything while they’re still on the middle school grounds.
He drives to their pseudo-date, the coffee shop, and parks. He was driving quickly, ready to get away from the school and to finally do what he’s been wanting since he first saw the guy almost two years ago.
Jared takes a deep breath before looking over at Jensen, struck again by how absolutely gorgeous he is. The drive was quiet, the tension so thick you’d need a saw to cut through it. Jared would like to think it’s unresolved sexual tension that’s finally going to get resolved.
Jensen’s looking back at him, eyes soft and lips parted. He has a blush staining his cheeks and Jared just wants to lean in and kiss the warm skin, so he does. He presses soft kisses to Jensen’s cheek, smiling at Jensen’s sharp inhale and loud gulp.
He pulls back a couple of inches to look into Jensen’s eyes. Jared hovers there, both of them breathing warm air onto each other’s lips. He lets Jensen make the final decision to lean in or not.
Jensen closes his eyes and brings a hand up to tangle in Jared’s hair, pulling him in so their lips can finally meet in one of the sweetest, softest, and best kisses Jared has had. He’s always going to remember this moment, whether or not they break up, of their first kiss together and how utterly perfect it was.
Jared angles his head a little and, if possible, the kiss gets even more perfect. Jared opens his mouth a little and Jensen does too; their tongues hesitantly touch for the first time. It doesn’t go any further than that, just little touches and licks, before they pull back, both smiling widely.
“Hi,” Jensen whispers quietly.
“Hey,” Jared says just as quietly. It’s like they don’t want to speak any louder and spoil this precise moment.
Jared leans in again to capture Jensen’s lips, and they kiss once more, no tongue this time, just lips meeting lips. Jared feels warmth bubble through him, sparks tingling up and down his spine. He realizes, in this moment, that if things don’t work out between him and Jensen, he’s going to be completely and wholly heartbroken. Jared won’t let that happen. He can’t.
