A/N: This is for
matalinolukaret because she is an evil enabler. She happened to mention her professor had brought his twins to class and how adorable they were and my mind went to fic. As it tends to do. Hope you enjoy this babe!
Jared heard girlish “Awwww!”’s and boyish hoots of laughter coming from Jensen’s classroom as he was walking past and he had to go and check it out because while Jensen’s students loved him and were always loud and rambunctious, Jared didn’t usually hear cooing. He opened the door and stuck his head inside and was met with twin pairs of wide green eyes. The same shade of green as Jensen’s eyes. Yes he did know what color they were, after staring at him all the time.
They looked about four or five years old, and you could tell they were twins. The girl had light brown hair that looked soft to the touch while the boy’s hair was more of a sandy shade and he had glasses on that made his eyes look that much bigger. Both of them had freckles dusted across their faces (like Jensen) and you just knew they were his kids. They were beautiful and adorable and yeah, just like Jensen. It looked like they had been crawling under tables and chairs, as they were on their hands and knees, and were trying to get near the door to escape or something. They just looked up at him, probably making their necks ache, and blinked while he just looked down at them and then a cough from Jensen broke their staring contest.
He looked up and saw the whole class staring at him and everyone was quiet now, just watching him watch the twins and he felt a blush creep up on his face. He waved a little and laughter broke out from among the students.
“Hey Mr. Padalecki!” Students called and he laughed and said hello back.
“Sorry Mr. Ackles, I heard noise and was intrigued. So I came by to take a look,” Jared said, trying to explain himself.
Jensen was smiling that smile that made his eyes crinkle at the corners and raised a hand to wave his excuse away.
“Nah. Don’t worry about it Mr. Padalecki. These two munchkins like causing all sorts of trouble, don’t you?” He directed the last part of the statement to the little kids who looked at their dad mischievously.
Both of them nodded with a huge grin and Jensen got this fond grin over his face and yeah, Jared was totally infatuated with that smile. Jensen walked over to them and leaned down to tickle them. More “Awww”’s rang out and the twins’ laughs were infectious. It wasn’t very long before Jared was cracking up too. Finally Jensen retreated, letting his kids catch their breath. He whispered something in their ears and they got up, faces red from laughter, and walked towards him.
The boy was first and he held his hand out, “Hi Mr. Padalecki, I’m Evan.” Jared shook his hand, bemused, and saw how his hand engulfed the smaller child’s.
The girl was right behind Evan and she held her hand out too, “Hi! I’m Emily.” Jared shook her hand too, and hers was even smaller than Evan’s. Jared looked up and caught Jensen’s eye who was looking proudly at his kids, and maybe blushing a little.
He told the class something about getting back on task and walked Evan and Emily to two empty desks and let them color. He then came closer to Jared and snapped his fingers in front of Jared’s face and Jared snapped out of his daze.
Jared blushed again and teasingly said, “Your kids are real cute Jensen.”
Jensen just smiled, looked a little proud, and glanced over at them again with the same affectionate grin that made something clench in Jared’s belly.
“Yeah, the nanny couldn’t make it in today. And Principal Kripke said it was okay if I brought them in, as long as it didn’t disrupt class, so I did,” Jensen said and shrugged. Principal Kripke was very understanding when things came up such as not being able to leave your kids anywhere, thankfully.
Jared nodded and looked over at Evan and Emily too. They were coloring quietly and every once in a while would make a comment to each other. They looked so much like Jensen it hurt.
“Hey Jared?” Jensen asked in that voice that means Jared would not like what came next.
“Yeah?” Jared replied, a bit hesitant which was understandable since the last time Jensen had asked for a favor, he’d been surrounded by 40 hormonal teenagers on a field trip.
“I know you have free period and those monsters won’t sit still the whole time so can you please take them for a little while?” Jensen pleaded in the voice that Jared could never say no too. With those ridiculous eyes and small pout and yeah, Jared was way in over his head and didn’t even stop to think about what this meant.
“Yeah, of course man!” He said, not believing those words came out of his mouth.
Jensen’s expression brightened and it was definitely worth agreeing to watch over the kids for a little while. Maybe get to know them if he planned on ever actually asking Jensen out.
“Evan, Emily, can you come here please?” Jensen asked and they looked up and walked over to where Jared and Jensen were standing. Jensen kneeled down so he could be eye to eye with them and even that was adorable.
“Hey, Mr. Jared is going to take care of you for a little while. Is that ok?” Jensen told them and they looked up to look into his eyes. Jared tried to smile really wide, but toned it down when Emily and Evan just looked at each other.
“Yes Daddy,” they said in unison and Jared was sure he was squeeing like a girl at how they called Jensen ‘Daddy.’
“Awesome. Thanks guys, I know you’ll be good right?” Jensen asked them as he kissed them both on their foreheads. Evan and Emily nodded and held out their hands for Jared to take. Jared did, engulfing their tiny hands in his huge paws and nodded to Jensen before he led them out and to his own classroom.
They went inside and he sat on one of the desks.
“What do you want to do now?” he asked. Evan and Emily just looked up at him and shrugged. Jared tried to think of what he liked to do at that age, but he couldn’t really remember. Except for one thing…
“How about Hide and Go Seek?” he asked them and both nodded enthusiastically. He’d be the seeker of course, because nothing could hide his gigantic form. So he counted and they hid and every time he found one of them, he’d tickle them until they were both giggling and red-faced. He wasn’t too bad at this after all. He had them color a little more, showed them some computer games, played Tag, played Hot and Cold, and even Red Light Green Light, though that got a little boring with just the three of them. Jared would freeze in the most out of the world positions to make Evan and Emily laugh and Jensen happened to open the door when he was in his most bizarre position yet.
“Wow you’re flexible,” he said with a whistle and a wink and Jared quickly stood right again as Evan and Emily ran to Jensen with calls of “Daddy!”
Jared blushed at the double entendre, but he couldn’t help but grin as well.
Jensen kneeled down again to hug his kids and asked them, “Did you all have fun with Mr. Jared?”
Both of them nodded excitedly and launched into what they did while Jensen was teaching.
“We like him Daddy, can he come over to play?” Evan asked and Jensen laughed and glanced over to where Jared was trying not to fall over laughing.
“Sure Sport, but why don’t we ask him to come over some other day, ok? He’s probably tired right now with you little monsters,” Jensen said, and tickled them again, grinning as they squealed in delight. He got back up and held their hands and that image of him standing with two grinning kids pulled at something in Jared’s heart. He wanted that. Wanted a family that consisted of two adoring kids and a loving husband. He wanted this family with Jensen and Evan and Emily.
Jensen eyes were bright as they caught eyes, mischief and relief and a hint of wonderment? Jared hoped he wasn’t imagining that last part, he didn’t want to get his hopes up to have them fall because he fell in love with one of his best friends. And Jensen was his best friend. As soon as they had met, they had gotten along like a house on fire.
Emily tugged at Jensen’s sleeves and he bent down as she whispered something in her ear. He looked at her, eyes wide, and whispered something back and she nodded. He looked over at Evan and asked something and he nodded too and Jared was just confused.
Jensen stood straight again and met Jared’s gaze.
“These children were hoping you’d come over for dinner tonight?”
“Daddy!” Emily and Evan both said and Jensen rolled his eyes.
“Fine. The children and I were hoping.”
Jared couldn’t breathe. He stared at Jensen who was grinning sheepishly and hopefully and there was only one answer.
“Of course. I’ll help ya’ll cook.”
Both of the kids brightened and they let go of Jensen’s hand to run over and attack Jared’s legs, holding him in a crushing hug. He ruffled both their hair and kneeled down to hug them properly.
“See you tonight Mr. Jared!” they said as they ran back to Jensen.
“See you tonight Jared,” Jensen said, a bit slower.
“Yeah, tonight.”
Jensen and Evan and Emily all waved at him as they walked out the door and the kids started chattering again to their dad. Jared couldn’t wait until tonight.
