First off!

Why aren't more of you friends with melcomics ?! I believe he is the winner of my quote-o-the-day contest with this gem "I've just discovered the best hobby in the world. It is drawing pictures of myself with laser canons for arms."

Second on!

Considering, I literally own about 8 times as many Polka albums as I do anything that can be considered " ( Read more... )

That is just downright amazing. I think you owe me a bollywood mix...I believe it was promised to me over the monkey shrine therefore it is a totally binding promise (the monkey knows all)

Soon as I unpack my computer you are SO gonna get a mix! I know not to cross the monkey. (Best box I packed when I moved simply said on the outside "Hangers/Inflatable Monkey" that was totally one of the first ones I opened.)

I also desperately need to have a "yay I live here now" thing, complete with some good ol' fashioned dance-party action.

How are you feeling? Have you returned from Death unharmed?

That is the best box label ever. I am totally in for the "yah I live" here dance party! I'll bring the 80's Pop - It will go well with Bollywood.

I am pretty sure that I have successfully returned from death. I still have some sniffles but I can walk a block with out needed a nap and I'm not sleeping 14 hours a night so I think that means I'm better. The Super OJ-DayQuill Cocktail worked wonders

I am planning on having a "Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter" movie night soon! I'll let you know when...I am sure the movie will be everything we hope it could be an more!

listening to bollywood movie songtracks loooong before it was cool. On cassette. In a Teal green Ford Escort with an airfoil on the back!

So what if I was the passenger?

I at least can brag that I saw the thing from Ghost World in non-Ghost World form before I knew it was from Ghost World....means I'm still not very good...sigh.

Being the passenger in a Teal Green car makes you cool no matter what the circumstances of cassette!

Oooh can you suggest anything good I may not have come across yet?

It is most unfortunate that automobile did not have wood bead seat covers for my continued comfort. Most definitely!!!!

Let me see, there was the ballroom one with the male and female voices, or the one with the brassy horns mixed in with the sitar, or... they were all most extra ordinary, but I could not understand what it was they were saying for the life of me. I am very sorry. Most definitely!

I wonder if people in India DDR to Indian music, or if you've invented a whole new phenomenon here.

You know, excluding Japan and the US I really am not sure how big DDR has gotten around the world. I hope it catches on in Russia soon...it's damn cold there! They could use some pointless jumping in place!

I'm so glad you posted about this series -- I'm definitely going to get it now!

HAHA, that Other Music (or Other Mucus, as some call it) movie is hilariouso! I love it and have sent it around to some friends. The two guys who started that store worked at Bert's Records (in Delaware), where I worked a few years later. Only one of those guys is still at O.M. and his name is Chris V., so if you see a middle-aged, tall blond guy, talk to him, because he couldn't be nicer and more down-to-earth.

The "he's gonna....uh...INSULT you!" line gets me every time in that.

I really wonder how it got such a bad reputation. What people were working there that made it so terrifying to go into, if the original guys were pretty decent?

I guess because like many indie record stores, it's always been staffed by at least a couple asshole snobs.

Every time I go in there, there's another one. I don't know why that happens. People like to be authorities on something, sure, but when their heads get enormously big about their own superior taste in music, they're just driving customers away at that point.

We tried to keep it real at Bert's, though!

I know people like that who listen exclusively to pop 80's music.

Heehee. I love that you posted that video. I can't watch it at work, but I'm guessing it's the one that Aziz and Andy Blitz did for SXSW. Too funny!

I am addicted to Bollywood music now. I NEED this compilation!

Does all the talk of polka mean that you unpacked your records last night?

colleenaf January 26 2007, 22:17:16 UTC
Most definitely the Aziz thing. That's actually the first time I heard about Other Music.

Didn't unpack the records though I did hang up all the clothes, hang a hook for my robe, a full length mirror, and calmed Mr. M down about all the furniture rearranging stuff. It really felt like a HUGE amount of progress so thank you thank you thank you for helping me get that dresser in there. I was going cra-zeeee!
