"Aye. That I have. Else I'd have noticed sooner that you weren't about.."
Guilt. Guilt. Guilt.
"Which reminds me.. I picked up something for you in the Yamani Islands.." He reaches into a pocket and pulls out a small leather-bound book - wrapped in a protective cloth.
He hands it to her.
"It's a book on techniques for fighting with the Glaive.."
*Alanna runs her fingers over the cool cover and smiles. Biting her lip, she looks up.*
Thank you.
George, I'm afraid I have another favor to ask. It's of great importance, however. *She takes a deep breath.* Thom might be able to help, but he needs more information. I thought... I was hoping that you might consider searching for the arrows that hit me. I can tell you exactly where I pulled them out.
"I figure it will give you something to read while you mend. And then, actually trying the techniques for yourself will give you something to occupy your attention once you're finished mending." He winks.
And the answer to her request is out of his mouth almost immediately after the words have been spoken;
"Done - a thousand times done. You needn't even ask."
Come in.
*It sounds like Alanna, but there is an undeniable and unfamiliar note of strain in her voice.*

I wouldn't mind at all. In truth, the thought gives me more hope than I've had in days.
You've been busy lately, Baron.

A pause.
"..though I'm very glad you did."

Thank you, George. For this, and for the gift.
*Nearly diving across the bed, Alanna pulls a piece of paper off a nearby table and presses it into his hand.*
There. Those are the directions. The tree you are looking for is old and large, with gnarled roots.

"Well then, best I find myself a horse and be on my way."
He rises from the bed, stretching his shoulders. He leans down and plants a friendly kiss on her forehead.
"I'll stop by my mother's on my way. I'll see she's escorted to the palace by one of the lads."
He moves toward the door, but before exiting, turns back to face her.
"Oh, and as he'll certainly strike me down with a thunderbolt or some-such if I forget this,.. Thom sends his love."
With a smile, he slips out of the room.
