Hail all!
I'm new to this community, but am very impressed with it.
My weapon of choice is the hand and a half sword.
I've been sword fighting for almost four years, though living in the city now I can't do it nearly as much as I would like to.

To put it simply: I love swords. There is just something about them that draws me to them. There is a peace ( Read more... )

That's awesome, thanks! I'm glad you like. I completely know what you mean. I get pretty weird looks too. My weapon of choice is a scimitar or a rapier. I think scimitars are so elegant but the rapier best suits my fighting style.

I love how this community turned out but I must warn you that activity is kindof sparse. There are times when it's quite a while between posts. :-/ We need to recruit more sword enthusiasts!

In short: welcome!

Well i fight with a single handed sword, hand and a half, sword and shield, quater staff, dagger, case dagger, spear if someone gives me one..... my favorite weapon of those is the quaterstaff cause of its speed and versitility... but I do enjoy the sword and shield combination....

Do you fight with your hand and a half one handed ? I am a rather big guy and can wield the hand and a half single handed quiet competantly... he he... freaks out some people....

The other day I bought some raw hide dog chews to edge my shield with... you should have seen the check out girls face when I told her that they were for a shield and not a happy dog... ha ha

LOL Yes, I would have loved to see her face, heh.
I've been wielding my hand and a half one handed more often now, but still mainly fight two-handed. I'd love to be able to fight with two hand and a half swords. My teacher does that.

If it freaks some ppl out, that's their problem lol- I think it's cool! Though I think to the average person, anyone in this day and age wielding a big sword, is a freak to them. To them we're just a whole other breed hehe. Though to some extent, I kind of like it that way, but not always. Anyway, I'm going off on a tangent here. Thanks for replying to my post :).

Also, I've tried fighting with a sword and shield and find it rather difficult, but ppl say fighting with a hand and a half is harder- what's your opinion? Then again I've been doing hand and a half for so long maybe that's my problem. My teacher once told me that I've got no talent, but tons of devotion lol. And it's true.

There I go again- you guys got my talking about swords hehe. I love it!

The sword and shield can be rather difficult if you dont do some of the basics right but it really is easy if you stay to the conventions... ha ha.... And yes I would say that fighting hand and a half is harder, much harder.... the hand and a half is a lot slower than a single handed sword and therefor harder to wield, then to add a shield in the other hand..... well that is just a whole different problem.

Talking of freaking people out.... my step son had a birthday party a few years ago and my son got given a plastic sword, I went out there with my steel single handed and played around with him. When I had finished I turned around and there was a little kid standing there watching me..... so BIG norty me ....... what did I do..... why nothing but full blooded screaming included.... charged him..... ha ha... ever seen a dark person go white... well that kid certainly did.... man it was soooo much fun lol.
