"Ambiguous text message" shouldn't change much -- if he has basically ignored you since July, you should do your best to move on. It's not worth it.

it's not so much a matter of rekindling anything romantic so much as a 'why are you contacting me now thing'... which I found out today was to tell me how awesome his life is.

I'm happy for him, but at the same time pissed about it you know?
