That's amazing! The riders, the horses, the photographers- I've never heard of this before but I know Spain is very equine-oriented. I'd love to go there some day.

As for the horses, I imagine as long as the items on fire don't touch their skin they're fine. Horsehide is about 10 times thicker/more resilient than human skin, and even if their outer layer of fur catches fire if it's put out right away they'll probably be none the wiser.

It takes a lot of trust between horse and rider...if the fire hurt the horse it wouldn't go through it again.
