Observations of a Broken Love

She sees the way that he looks at her. The way he tries not to look at her.

And he isn’t the only one.

It isn’t a one way street; she looks at him with the same longing when she doesn’t think anyone else is watching, has the same guarded look when she knows that people are watching.

She can practically feel the sparks fly when they actually make eye contact.

And she can tell that pretending to be nothing more than friends and teammates is slowly killing them both.

Now she understands why he had disliked her so much.

Title: Knowing
Fandom: Flashpoint
Characters/Pairing: Donna, Sam/Jules
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Spoilers: The general situation with Sam and Jules and the whole Donna thing, basically.
Summary: She doesn't understand how the others don't see it.
A/N: Written for Flashpoint_SRU prompt #9 - Sorrow. Once more, abstract interpretation.

Knowing

She wonders how no one else sees it.

She knows that Greg sees it, Ed too. She figures that’s the reason for the painful distance between them.

But the others… she doesn’t know how anyone could miss this.

Maybe they do see it but they choose to ignore it.

But no… she doesn’t think so. Because no one else seems to notice anything amiss.

Maybe it’s one of those things that you can’t see until one day you can and then it seems painfully obvious. She wonders how long they can keep up the act before it destroys them both.

Title: Realization
Fandom: Flashpoint
Characters/Pairing: Donna, Wordy, Sam/Jules
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Spoilers: The general situation with Sam and Jules and the whole Donna thing, basically.
Summary: He never saw it until she told him.  Now he can't not see it.
A/N: Written for Flashpoint_SRU prompt # - Trigger. Again… abstract interpretation.

Realization

One day she finally breaks and asks Wordy.

“You really don’t see it, do you?”

“See what?” he asked distractedly as they sort through the supply locker.

“Sam and Jules,” she said simply and he looked at her, confused.

“What about them?”

“Wow… you really don’t see it,” she said, disbelievingly.

“See what, Donna?”

“Just… watch them next time they’re together,” she said as she finished counting out the ammo and left the locker.

When the team goes out for a few rounds after their shift that night, he watches them.

He wonders how he missed it all this time.

Title: Ignition
Fandom: Flashpoint
Characters/Pairing: Donna, Sam/Jules
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Spoilers: The general situation with Sam and Jules and the whole Donna thing, basically.
Summary: Because eventually, those sparks had to ignite.
A/N: Written for Flashpoint_SRU prompt #8 - Chance. Still abstract interpretations. I’ll explain them all at the end :)

Ignition

He wonders how long they can keep pretending that everything’s okay, that they’re okay.

How long they can pretend that they’re fine with being just friends. Wonders how long they can keep up the fake smiles.

He gets his answer when, one day after a particularly hard case, they end up in Jules’ locker room, up against the lockers, tearing each other’s clothes off.

Neither of them hears Donna enter the locker room and then leave just as quietly, a smile playing across her lips.

About damn time, she thinks as she locks the door behind her and slips out.

Okay, so an explanation of the prompt interpretations (since I’m not sure they even make a lot of sense in my mind…). The first one, regret, is just basically that Sam and Jules regret their relationship ending and how Donna observes this regret. The second is how Donna feels sorrow at watching them have to be apart and all. The third one is just that Donna’s words triggered a realization for Wordy. And the last one is that Donna came into the locker room while Sam and Jules were… reacquainting themselves with each other by chance. When I said abstract, I meant it lol
