YES! It is that time. Time for another Gratuitous Food Post!

For tonight's round of the GFP, we have Sweet & Sour Spare Ribs, a Rum Apricot Galette, and my mother's Vegetable Soup (but made by me, not my mother). As you might imagine, two of these dishes have meat! One of them does not. Here endeth the introduction.

Yada yada this is image-heavy yada yada )

erin loves to stuff her face, food is love, baking, gratuitous food post

Ooh, soup! I never thought of using Quorn (I like Quorn nuggets). I'll keep that in mind!

I am a HUGE fan of Quorn! We use it fairly often around here, especially since we figured out that leiascully has a soy sensitivity, so we can't use Morningstar as much. The crumbles that they make work really well in soups, and I've also used them in ragù. Delicious!

Your mother's veggie soup looks a lot like what my family calls "grandma soup" that I ate a veggie version of today! I love it and it actually seems like something even I can make.

Also, piiiieeee. Or rather, galeeette. Haha seriously, that looks so yummy.

It is such a good soup! And so easy to make! :D I actually really, really love to make it the vegetarian way with the crumbles, since it saves me the trouble of browning meat. Ahahahaha.

The galette was deliiiiiiiiiiiiiiicious, and I want to make it again. But with apples. I'm having an apple craving. Mmm.

Our veggie version doesn't include the crumbles, it's just the veggies. I never thought about adding that lol. It sounds good though, so I might try that if I ever get around to making my own batch. :D

I'm not as big on baked apples, but Rani and I are discussing trying our hands at something like this: http://smittenkitchen.com/2008/08/bourbon-peach-hand-pies/

Yes! Yes! THE HAND PIES ARE SO DELICIOUS. I made them last week! That dough is so perfect and flaky and mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. THEY ARE SO FREAKING DELICIOUS AND BEAUTIFUL THAT IT IS TOTALLY WORTH THE SLIGHTLY FRUSTRATING DOUGH.
