Ahhhh! Can't wait to read it. Am heading out to do christmas family thing today so I am hoping to get to this tonight when I can give it my undivided attention. I will post more later!
I love Norse Mythology too and no hurry on the paintings! I just really apprecaite that you'll be sharing them with us! Am looking forward to having them in my sim homes for sure whenever they are ready.
First, I love the tone you took with this story - it has that "mythology" feel to it. The writing flows so well, the story, the dialogue. I felt a bit sad for Baldur and I definately felt a twinge of compassion for Loki, fleeting as it was. The ending was a surprise to me but a good one.
As you can see, I've not read either of the titles you referenced.
This was riveting and I was defiantely drawn in from the opening lines. There's a sense of magic and otherworldiness about the story and it definately is the stuff legends are made of.
I'm glad to know you felt that way about those two! I have a love-hate thing about Baldur. At one point when I read the myths, I see him as an arrogant airhead of a god who probably pissed Loki off in some way (like challenging him to try and kill him if he could) and met with a well deserved end. xD In the myths, he was reborn along with Hod when the world was destroyed (Ragnarok), to lead the new 'clean' world that we live in now. I like to think he's the reason of corruption's existence. Haha. But I guess the love won out in this one
( ... )
Its always hard to keep up an ethereal tone throughout a story, but I think you have done a great job with that, and with the banter between the gods, its good to see them not as perfect and untouchable, but as plotting, jealous petty creatures. And Loki, the trick was really on him in the end.
Thank you very much! I'm glad the tone sounds consistent, I was worrying about that because I think some modern-world talk may have slipped in out of habit.
The gods certainly match humans in that regard, to me probably even more jealous and petty than humans. I always feel like smacking the whole lot when I read about them, yet strangely, they're fascinating.
Yes thank you! I knew the sequence of events to be something like that, but this confirms it. I guess the sequel will be forthcoming when I get the next feel of the moment! XD
Haha! I didn't know that! More contrast between Baldur and Hoeter (is that the more widely known one? I had to choose between Hoeter and Hod since different sources spell it different, and didn't know better)!
