This is a tangent from much more serious posts about Steve Rogers and the myth of progress. (No argument here: I am also convinced that, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Steve Rogers is an FDR Democrat and Tony Stark votes Republican.) It is just something I sometimes think about on my commute

A while back there was a woman in the newyorkers comm who wanted to a. move and b. have a baby, and she thought she would put both plans on hold until after the second avenue line is completed so she could easily get from her new apartment to work.

She was furious with me when I pointed out what an awfully bad plan that was, and I was POLITE, too!

That is an impressively terrible plan. She must have originally been from out of town.

And if so, we can only hope she went back. She wasn't doing a thing for the local culture. I've had some strange and surreal conversations on LJ, but this one took the cake.
