What I don't understand about the "died as a boy" part is Walter's reaction to his "hallucinations" of Peter... even if he wouldn't necessarily recognize grown-up Peter, it seems to me seeing a guy the same age as his son would have been might be something he reacted to a little bit differently. I dunno. Still much to be answered there.

I'm not sure Walter tracks time that closely. I would expect a stronger reaction to seeing boys who were the age of Peter when he died.
