Man, it is hard to recall a day in which I did less than today. I folded a load of laundry, and started some potato-rosemary dinner rolls for Thanksgiving, and that's all. Ah, well: sometimes you just need a day to sit on the futon and rest your braincells.

So, hey, this Doctor Who timeline is cool.

I so wish HBO had decided to make The Game of Kings instead of Game of Thrones.

I mean, my interest in and enjoyment of ASOIAF is conflicted and often chagrined, and I'm not sure I even want to watch the series. Whereas Lymond is compelling and enjoyable and addictive while maintaining about 1000% fewer casual rape scenes/threats.

That Inaccurate Lymond Quotes blog is good stuff.

I so want to agree with you! Except I fear that for HBO and the audience it's after (which is not necessarily the same as the audience it has), the lack of rapeyness might be a bug rather than a feature...

Me, I'm thinking a longass BBC production, rather like the Hollow Crown or P&P. Short on location filming but long on awesome actors and writing...

Hmmm...I'm not sure I'd like Lymond much toned down...Oonagh's fate, or the chess game, or the at-times heavy dose of "anti" in Lymond's anti-hero, or pretty much anything having to do with Gabriel and Joleta. While the Beeb can certainly mount a quality production, are some parts of unvarnished Lymond really suitable for a public broadcaster, even post-watershed and non-American?

I'll not argue with your speculation about HBO's intended audience. To be honest, I don't think I've ever watched an HBO series. Showtime, yes. Maybe someone needs to drop a suggestion to SHO about a piece of counter-programming ripe for the picking...? I think if there's one thing GOT has proven, it's that an epic fiction series can work on TV. Lymond is the kind of central character that people would eat with a spoon. I'm a little surprised no one's tried it yet. If you adapted it for TV you could take out the boring bits. :)

Wow! Thank you for the Viking Buddhas, which was all new to me. Fantastic! I love trade routes and cross-cultural vibrancies!

Love the Inaccurate Lymond quotes. Too fabulous. I'm about due for a re-read of the series, I think. It's been at least 15 years.

The hot chocolate recipe looks good; I'd probably add some kind of chili and cinnamon for that Mexican kick :-)

The only problem with the Doctor timeline is their inability to put John Hurt's Doctor in his correct position, which they should have been able to do, if they'd seen the pre-movie short and Day of the Doctor.

Don't want to spoil, but ... the answer was given.
