Shameful confession: The Centralia fire was a prominent part of a creepy vampire book I read (Vampire Zero), and the very idea of a fire that large, that had been burning for 50 years, was so outlandish to me that I assumed it was just part of the fiction.

Jessica at the Frisky gets into what's also wrong with the text of the cover story.

What she said is pretty much what I think about that story. It's pretty much a hot mess from start to finish. Which is basically what I expect from Katie Roiphe.
