So, I got inspired to write this.
Rating: Teen for language
Spoilers: through 5x16, "Dark Side of the Moon"
Summary: It's not something you can tell anyone, after all. It's not something to be proud of, even. For Roy and Walt, it was just a job, like any other.
Story is also archived
here on AO3.

You run, of course. )

I can't help but think that Dean leaving Roy alive was as much a punishment as a mercy, given what Dean knows about what it's like to lose your partner/brother/cousin.

I'm glad I didn't read any other stories before I wrote this, since it turns out there's another one about Walt & Roy posted just ahead of mine on SPN_gen. Woops!

I think everyone else is running around having Team Free Will group hug and making sure Sam fishes the amulet out of the wastebasket.
Which I think are perfectly understandable knee-jerk reactions, but why waste all that nice jaw-clenching work JA did there in the opening scene? There was a lot of wrath there, and I like the idea that karma's a bitch and Dean is watching.

I tend to think that Dean wasn't actually looking for those guys, but he wasn't going to pass on an opportunity to make a point when he had one. Frankly, he's got way too much on his plate to waste time on those yahoos.
