1. It's been raining so hard all day today that I can barely see out the window. So obviously I am taking advantage of the fact that I don't have to leave the house and am watching The Adventures of Tintin (the animated series) and planning this summer's trip to California. If anyone has suggestions for hotels in San Francisco and/or Los Angeles, ( Read more... )

I wish it was raining here so I could close the curtains and watch films all day. But the English weather is unpredictable, was cold this morning so wore coat and boots into town, then the sun came out and I was so hot! Is actually really sunny now so I feel guilty not doing anything :)

I haven't watched Hallam Foe for ages! Well, I've watched my favourite bits but I don't think that counts! I wasn't sure about the Ides of March, I was really looking forward to it but when I came out of the cinema I was a bit... undecided. It felt quite heavy in some places. But it might be one of those films that is better the second time you watch it

How's your week been? Are you over your cold completely now?

Heh, the weather here is pretty unpredictable as well. It was raining all morning but after I posted this entry the sun broke through the clouds for a little while. Then it started snowing. Now it's back to raining heavily. We've had all four seasons in just a few hours!

I hadn't watched Hallam Foe for months before my rewatch on Thursday. It was great to finally see it again.
I guess The Ides of March was a little heavy but I quite liked that. I thought the acting was superb and it was felt very much like a thriller (I'm not a big fan of thrillers in general but I love political thrillers)

My week's been pretty busy, especially the last few days. Yesterday I had an all-day meeting in Oslo, the capital city, and I felt like an important business woman, flying into the capital in the morning and returning to my own city in the evening. I'm not completely over my cold yet (my voice still sounds weird) but I am doing much better.

I visited San Francisco about nine years ago, so none of this might be relevant, but I stayed at the Villa Florence hotel and it was wonderful. Really pretty rooms, close to all the tourist attractions, pretty decent price if you're on a budget, and the most comfy beds ever. It made visiting San Francisco just that much more wonderful.

The Villa Florence Hotel looks like a great place to stay! Thank you so much for the tip! I'll definitely take a closer look. Comfy beds are really important, especially since I plan on doing a lot of walking all day every day while I'm there and will need a comfy bed to crawl into come evening.

San Francisco! I live quite close to there, but I just moved here last fall, so I don't know any good places to suggest yet, unfortunately. (In fact, I haven't even managed to get to visit San Francisco yet--grad school--ugh. Although I'll probably be going out there a lot this summer for research). If you have time while you're here, though, I'd love to meet you! :)

I did not know you lived close to San Francisco! I've always wanted to visit SF and I am super excited about going there this summer.

I'd definitely be interested in meeting up if our schedules match up. I'll probably make a post about my plans once they are more definite.
