Destiny She’s been here for a week now, the fighting’s been pretty much constant and now, as she curls up in the foetal position she realises how grateful she is for that fact, because now it’s quiet again and she can think and she really wishes she couldn’t. He’s the only think she can think about now, the only thing she can see when she closes her eyes and she realises just how much she wants this to be all over with so that she can go back home, to Hauvatat, to Geoff
Weeping silently, she hugs herself tightly as she imagines him here with her. She hopes he’s handling their enforced separation better than she is, but then she knows him well enough to suspect he isn’t and that just makes her cry harder. This isn’t her, she knows this. She’s the optimistic one, the profession that knows exactly how important their job as the Charmed Ones are, but now as she lies here alone in her bed she realises why she always felt that way, because she didn’t have anything other than her sisters and her duty in her life and now she does. She has a whole other life now, a life of relative normality with a dog and a man she loves, and even her family, even though they aren’t quite the same family she left behind.
She lifts her head only when Phoebe enters the room, she’s noticed something’s wrong, they all have even Leo and he’s hardly ever there. “Sweetie?” She says softly and she sits on the end of her bed and reaches out to stroke her hair, to offer her some kind of comfort.
Blinking several times, trying to clear the tears in her eyes and to calm herself she straightens a little and looks up at her sister. “I miss him so much,” she says her voice breaking, and as she says the words she realises just how lost she feels here without him. She made a terrible mistake leaving the way she did, not saying goodbye, not asking him to come with her, even though it’s dangerous and she’d do anything to keep him safe. She’s lost without him but now it’s too late, she’s stuck here because her sisters and her world needs her and in spite of everything she has to accept her responsibilities and so that’s what she’ll do. And maybe if she’s really lucky the fight will distract her enough to help her get through this, because if it doesn’t she doesn’t know what might happen. It’s not something she’s willing to think about.
