I already briefly essayed on this to Yzak (h0 ♥) in my essay prompt meme, but I feel like it should be developed into a bigger essay, because...yes. Okay you love it go.
There's a lot of people Dee has grown close to since he came to camp. Along with that, there are people who remind him of his friends back home, both in good ways and bad. It's something that Dee thinks about a lot off-screen when he's not-emoing about missing New York and Ryo, and while it does make him kind of lonely, it also makes camp a little better, because even though he's alone here (ie: nobody from home's in camp), he still has people here he's friends with and cares about.
Yzak would be the best example of this. He is, as I said, the anti-Bikky. Dee thinks he's a great kid, and likes talking to him because he's easy to get along with, and in a way, kind of like Dee's little brother (ignoring the whole being his camp dad thing). And if there was a person Dee would introduce Bikky to and say "You should be more like this guy", it'd be Yzak.
As for the people who remind Dee of the real Bikky, it'd be someone like Emilio. But that's also mixed with the feeling of JJ-ness. ...shut up, that's the only way I can describe it. Dee doesn't have any problems with Emilio, really, since he's more talk than anything, but he does remind Dee of JJ's constant "being there" and Bikky's teasing. The best way to word it is "You're an idiot and I'm going to smack you if you don't stop", but. Yes.
And since posting that little essay, Dee's met a few girls that remind him of Carol, Kairi being the most like her. Not the whole "I'm gonna take after my future boyfriend and cockblock you lol", but...more like a little sister, almost. Or a daughter. He really likes Kairi, and like Carol, would do anything for her. Of course, in some ways, Kairi could also be the anti-Carol, because Kairi doesn't hit him and her and Dee get along great. It works both ways.
Then there's Ray, who's really hard to categorize. I originally said he's a lot like Drake to Dee, but in some non-gay ways, he could be like an anti-Ryo to Dee, too. Dee really likes Ray (not like that), and they joke and tease and threaten all the time, which from what I can get from canon, seems like something Dee does with Drake on occasion (and if I'm wrong, haha). Then on the other hand, there's little things here and there that Ray does that reminds Dee of Ryo (REPRESSION BEING THE BIG ONE HI RAY) that makes Dee just want to smack him in the back of the head and say "OPEN YER EYES YA STUPID OLD MAN". And that right there just reminds Dee so much of Ryo that it hurts. But all in all, Ray is definitely more like Drake, with bits of Ryo here and there. And anti-Ryo. Wolfwood would proooooobably fit into this too, minus the Ryo-ness, but Dee hasn't talked much with him, so it's more like a ' first impression' kind of thing.
Is this losing sense yet?
And then there's Tatsumi. Who while Dee really enjoys talking to, drives him up a wall in some ways. Because he's sees bits of Ryo here and there, and then he gets the Berkley feeling, which he can't stand, because lol, he can't stand Berkley. It doesn't help that the first time he saw Tatsumi, he thought Berkley had come to camp, too. But Dee tries to ignore it, because Tatsumi =/= Berkley, and is instead a nice guy who he talks Japan about and gets along with really well.
Now I probably should get to the point where I'm supposed to rant and rave over who's Ryo, but...there is nobody. There are people who remind Dee of Ryo on occasion, like I said, but nobody is the camp!Ryo to Dee. This is probably because Dee is strongly dedicated to Ryo, and would never ever cheat on him willingly, crazy mistletoe and ToD and possible future AUs aside. Dee is a one-man kind of guy, and he's certain that Ryo will show up in camp one day, so he's willing to wait. He's chased after him for so long anyway, so he's not gonna give up what he already has. Mostly.
And I think that's it. This prooooobably would be added to in the future the more Dee talks to people, so. XD
