Ok everyone, I'd REALLY like a reply on this one...

Someone recently brought up to me that they think Green Day's song, American Idiot is about our fearless leader, President Bush. the song is about the media's control over what we know and think. I don't think it particularly has anything to do with bush although i'd gladly give him the title american idiot. I believe the song has more to do with our easy acceptance of exactly what the media spoons us.

Well, the official literary definition of an American idiot is a natural legislator who represents instinctual rather than institutional law.

Now, a word from Rollingstone: You can guess who the "American Idiot" is in the bang-up title tune, as Armstrong rages against the "subliminal mind-fuck America" of the George W. Bush era: "Welcome to a new kind of tension/All across the alien nation."

It says it there.

It also is about how the media controlls us but in part it is a "Bush Bashing" song.

Green Day is also featured on Rock Against Bush vol. 2.
