So last week I was whining that I wanted TV recs, and you were all wonderful enough to provide me with suggestions. So, in return I figured it was only fair I rec'd some things which have made me happy this week.

The Navy Lark - I was sort of brought up on this so I'm biased, but it's a radio programme that's being re-run by BBC Radio 7 and I just ( Read more... )

With Shatner?! Bwahahaha, I may actually have to watch this.

This has been making me very happy for a couple of weeks now. <3 I adore this band, and their crazy concept albums, and I'm so excited about their new album.

Oh William Shatner is just so... so... unbelieveable in it. And not really in a good way. It's like he's doing a James T. Kirk about five years too early. I mean I was really expecting 'Alexander's log: stardate... er..., wait, what dates are we again? Anyway, we encountered strange humanoid lifeforms today known as "Persians"...' and so on and so forth. But it's just insanely badly brilliantly awful. You have to watch it. :D

Ok, that trailer looks all kinds of awesome even though I've never even listened to anything by My Chemical Romance before. (I think it's pretty much persuaded me to trawl youtube now looking for their stuff. XD)

:D Trawl for your life! The Black Parade was a really fun album in terms of storytelling, and some of the videos for it are very interesting (and a little freaky). And of course, the great videos for I'm Not Okay and The Ghost of You from their second album. <3 <3 <3

*Trawls! Trawls as fast as she possibly can!* XD

Seriously though, I'm listening to 'I'm Not Okay' and sort of feel like it should be up on maximum volume and I should be jumping around headbanging and annoying the neighbours. (And that's a very good thing. :D)

Yes the cover is... not good. Really not good. I have no idea why there are lasers and space ships but, um.

Heroes in Hell is a fun read although probably not for the oversensitive. But if quirky gore and philosophy are something you like, they're a definite plus. :D

Planning on trying to check into some of these. Lucky for me, I spend a lot of time at Barnes & Nobles while I wait for my husband to finish school, so hopefully the book aspects should be pretty easy ( ... )

OMG yes, I love the Nightrunner series. (Well, the first three books anyway. I'm still pondering over the latest two.) I have this massive soft spot for Seregil, who is all kinds of sneaky awesome. (And Thero. Thero grew on me a lot.) The manlove is nicely done, it's sweet and gentle rather than descriptive and makes me go 'awww'. XD

Doctor Synn is very different to Seregil. The books are much darker and Syn ends up first a pirate, then a highwayman/smuggler. He's not an especially noce character (except for when he is), but he's kind of kick-arse.

Have you read Ellen Kushner's Swordspoint? It's sort of political intrigue-meets-swordplay (with added manlove too!) with really interesting and intricate plots and plot twists.
