And now for the promised picture splurge of Egypt goodness. This is primarily for those who expressed an interest, so anyone who isn't interested in old ruins: do feel free to skip.
Oh, and be warned: completely and utterly not dialup friendly.

And what went into the "Alexander the Great" cocktail?
And those towel animals, I kept taking pictures of them on my Spring Break cruise to Mexico. Our steward adored my roommate and me and insisted on teaching us. It didn't work XD, I can't fold towels into animals, I can only fold paper.

Concerning the Roman paintings and defaced pylon temple, I really hate the fact that so much great art/architecture and culture was destroyed that way. Other than that, though ~ I love Hatshepsut, but I wouldn't be happy with her if I were Thutmose (III) either. :P I also am absolutely in love with the pilasters from the temple honoring Horus and Sobek (the remaining green paint is fantastic!). Beautiful architrave and frieze, too!
Hephaistion the crocodile is utterly adorable and brilliant. :)

::tries to settle down:: Those are some really amazing pictures. For some reason, almost more than anything else, color always gets me. It's so hard to think it could last so long, since it's long gone from most ancient art/architecture. I mean, it doesn't even stay on my front porch more than a couple years, and yet. ::flails a little bit::
Oh, Alexander. He will never not make me feel fuzzy inside.
