Hmmm. Deep and pondering thoughts here. (Actually, not really.)

I always end up feeling that the world of academia is a bit elitist and snobby, in the sense that it doesn't actually encourage people to engage in a subject area that they may be interested in, but not studying (i.e. there's no encouragement of 'hobby' reading/studying/discussion).

To that end: would anyone be interested in participating in an online reading club for Classics books? (I'm talking ancient history classics here, not Jane Austen, obviously.) I figured a mixture of fiction and non might be a prudent way forward in terms of reading material, but I'd be very much interested to know. More to the point would non Classicists be interested in joining in?

Just a thought.
