Nope, I am pretty sure that it's not possible (or at least isn't yet) to charge someone with a hate crime for committing a violent act against a woman. The Culture of Make Believe discusses this a bit.

In this specific case I think it has less to do with being a woman, honestly I don't know what the hell the issue is there. But I do believe that a majority of my past experience with doctors (including female ones) is another aspect of that in that my pelvic pain is not taken seriously and it is assumed I must just be too "sensitive", hysterical, or exaggerating. I know this happens far too frequently with women who have endometriosis and similar conditions, and it is beyond creepy and wrong the things doctors say to us and the way they treat us.

I have never understood the category of "hate crime" in the first place. Why does a crime become something new just because the perpetrator hates the victim? Don't most perpetrators hate their victims?

It isn't because they hate their victim, it's because the crime is perpetrated against a person because that person is a member of a group. Hate crimes are used to spread fear in oppressed groups.
