I loved all of this, of course - your Cesare is obsessed and as close to lonely as anyone can be when they share their self with someone else - but this line rally struck me: even bound, what man could hold her? It feels as though that's why Cesare loves her best, better than anyone else, even the whole of Europe and all her lovers: he knows that he only has what she willingly gives. And she's beautiful because she's singular, not because she fits an arbitrary canon. She glows from within, because she's Lucrezia, not Lady Sforza or the Pope's daughter.

Gorgeous work! Looking forward to the next installment.
