Seriously, to the UK??? That would be really exciting.
Anyhow, thank you so much! The island planets are really enjoyable to work on, though they can also be a little frustrating. The three that I've posted are the ones that I've made more now, but I have supplies to start another few, so we'll have to see how that goes. I also enjoy making the little houses, though again, they can be a headache. I have a batch of 6 houses that I finished a little while ago ... they just need places to live :)
In the UK, yes. :) Just for one or two days, I guess - I'd be going with my college roommate, and one of our friends teaches at the university there. As much time with you as possible is on my list of Things to Do. Then we'll be going on to Bath, I guess...and then maybe Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon, Egypt. Yeah, we're totally nuts.
Yay! Now I'm totally excited about that. Do keep me posted :D Bath is really awesome, we went there when my parents came to visit. There's this cool old restaurant called Sally Lunn's ... it's Bath's oldest house, and they make great buns. Check it out: http://www.sallylunns.co.uk/ Anyhow, that sounds like an epic journey!
The planets are frustrating mainly because of all the careful painting ... undercoating, painting, touching up, dry-brushing, touching up, low-lights, high-lights, another touch-up, more dry-brushing, and a final touch-up, followed by a combination of matte and gloss varnishes. It gets a bit fiddly. You dry-brush a rock for texture, and then all of a sudden, you've got a brown smudge on the white waves. Stuff like that. But when they start to come together, it's really rewarding, and a massively enjoy gluing down fake grass.
