summary: no one makes fun of sunggyu's lisp or woohyun'll beat them up to a pulp.
a/n: this is written on impulse lol so no concrete plot or anything. and i'm also so sorry for the language mistakes :-( i just felt like writing something about jealous/overprotective boyfriends so this is the result of that! Enjoy your read ^^
Sunggyu cannot concentrate on his ice-cream, there is something so familiar about the guy in the denim jacket, standing at the front, and every part of Sunggyu wants to march right up to him and ask for his name. Sunggyu doesn't even notice Woohyun making puppy faces at him, something that is annoying yet so endearing to Sunggyu that it makes him smile every time he sees it... every time but this time. If only he'd turn around so I can see his face-
"What are you staring at, love?" Woohyun asks, startling Sunggyu and snapping him out of his thoughts. "That man? Is he cute? Do you think he's cute?"
"What- No!" Sunggyu replies, swatting Woohyun's (overprotective) arm away. "He just... he looks really familiar."
"Great date, is this not, my boyfriend is smitten with another-"
"Woohyun, darling, I am not smitten with him or with him or with anyone else, for that matter, anyone else but you. Okay?" Sunggyu gets up and motions to leave (his ice-cream has turn to liquid now and he doesn't like liquefied ice-cream), before Woohyun kills himself over jealousy.
He is, in fact, staring a guy ten feet away from where they were sitting but it is also because Sunggyu finds him so utterly familiar. He just cannot put a finger to where he might have seen him before. Perhaps an old classmate, or someone from his block... And Woohyun is just being ridiculously jealous. They walk past the said guy, who by now, have turned around, revealing his face to the couple, and Sunggyu almost wants to strangle Woohyun for putting an arm so tightly around his waist, and giving angry looks, even the girl at the counter raises an eyebrow.
"Sunggyu?" the guy in the denim jacket splutters, a bemused expression on his face (perhaps because Sunggyu is really trying to pry Woohyun's arm away and failing), before grinning at him. "Do you remember me? We were in chess club together in high school? Hoya? Howon?"
"Ho- Hoya," Sunggyu gasps, roughly pushing Woohyun away before he can make a grab at his waist again. "Yes, of course I remember you! How have you been?"
Woohyun clears his throat just as Hoya opens his mouth to reply. Sunggyu wants to punch his boyfriend's face.
"Oh, meet my boyfriend-"
"Nam Woohyun," Woohyun says through gritted teeth, glaring at Hoya. "And you are?"
"Lee Howon...?" Hoya replies, confusion on his face. "Uh, you can call me Hoya, if you want."
"Is that a nickname?" Woohyun severely questions, folding his arms, and acting as though he is interrogating a murder suspect. Sunggyu wants to cry at the slightly frightened look on Hoya's face, who probably regrets calling Sunggyu out, more than ever.
"Yes," Hoya answers, looking at Sunggyu then back at Woohyun. "Uh, people who are close to me usually call me that, but you can-"
"So Sunggyu's close to you?"
"Alright, Woohyun, we have to go!" Sunggyu hurriedly says, waving goodbye at Hoya and dragging Woohyun out. "See you soon, Hoya!"
Sunggyu keeps a firm grip on Woohyun's arm (in case his boyfriend decides to run off and kill Hoya or something) and is silent all the way home, ignoring Woohyun's threats to break his fingers if he doesn't let go. Only when they are in the living room, did Sunggyu let go, making Woohyun almost fall to the ground because he has been struggling so much.
"What was that about?" Sunggyu growls as Woohyun rubs his arm. "Making such a scene at the ice-cream shop... and in front of Hoya too! Have you gone mad?"
"Howon," Woohyun snaps back. "How close are you to that idiot, huh, why do you keep calling him by his nickname?"
"You are ridiculous, you know that?" Sunggyu yells. "He's a good friend of mine and no-" He yells even louder as Woohyun opens his mouth. "We didn't date or anything. If that's what you're so jealous about!"
He storms over to their bedroom, slamming the door close in Woohyun's face, before the argument can get any worse. Three years of dating Woohyun has made him realise that his boyfriend's hidden talent is to make a mountain out a molehill and this is definitely not a mountain (the jealousy mountain, Sunggyu secretly thinks to himself) he wants to deal with ever.

Sunggyu is bored out of his brain and regrets his decision to tag along with Woohyun at his high school's classmates reunion party. He barely knows anyone there and has no choice but to stick with Woohyun throughout the whole party. Woohyun doesn't lie when he proudly claims of being a popular kid at school, everyone wants to speak to him. And it doesn't help that Woohyun's closest high school friends were also the most popular clique at school and Sunggyu hates popular cliques (he was a high school nerd and nerds + popular cliques = why are they even in the same equation!?)
"So," one of the meanest looking guy (who Woohyun fondly recalls as his partner-in-crime, making Sunggyu almost choke into his iced tea) says , looking pointedly at Sunggyu. He vaguely recalls his name as Sungyeol, shuddering a little at the fact that his own name is so similar to his. "This is your boyfriend? Huh, Namstar?"
"Yep," Woohyun nods proudly, looking over at Sunggyu who smiles nervously at him. "He's cute, isn't he?"
"Absolutely," Sungyeol sneers as the rest laughs. Woohyun seems like the only person who doesn't get it as he laughs along; Sunggyu wants to fork out his boyfriend's brains and feed it to the dogs. "You are...?"
"Sunggyu," Sunggyu stutters, staring hard into his cup of iced tea and immediately regretting it because his lisp (which only comes out when he's nervous) is so fucking obvious, even to him. Woohyun raises an eyebrow, clearly hearing the lisp as well. Sunggyu doesn't know why but he continues, "Kim Thunggyu."
The table roars with laughter and Sungyeol almost goes crazy as he stands up and imitates Sunggyu's lisp. All the attention turns to Sunggyu, then, who is turning so red, he feels he can explode in embarrassment. Woohyun tries calming the crowd down, mildly telling them that he still loves Sunggyu and for them to stop teasing. But nobody hears what he says as they burst into another round of laughter as Sungyeol, who is now jumping up on the chair, mockingly saying Sunggyu's name again and again, with an imitated lisp.
Sunggyu feels like he's back at high school where he was taunted mercilessly every day for his lisp. He had close friends who would stand up for him but it still didn't make the humiliation stop because the popular, mean kids at school taunted and teased him whenever they found him alone at school. It was what that made him so determined to get rid of his lisp so he enrolled in classes to get his speech corrected. The classes worked and he doesn't speak with a lisp anymore, only when he's utterly nervous.
Sunggyu is about to get up and leave when Woohyun pushes him back down. He looks at his boyfriend and is surprised at the furious look on his face; he has never seen Woohyun this angry before.
"Shut the fuck up, Sungyeol!" Woohyun roars over the table, immediately silencing everyone who is laughing. "Stop making fun of Sunggyu."
Sungyeol stops and glares angrily at Woohyun, who, Sunggyu notices, is clenching his fists so hard, his knuckles are turning white. Sungyeol finally steps down from the chair and gives Woohyun a smirk.
"Why," He taunts, still smirking at Woohyun. "Thunggyu-"
He never gets to say another word as Woohyun throws a punch straight to his face. Sunggyu gasps in shock, marvelling at how fast his boyfriend is over at Sungyeol's side, possibly breaking his face with his fists.
"Never. Make. Fun. Of. Sunggyu," Woohyun says angrily, punctuating each word with a punch to Sungyeol's face.
Sunggyu rushes towards Woohyun before he can do anymore damage (Sungyeol's face is covered with so much blood that Sunggyu thinks he might choke on them), pulling him with all of his strength as Woohyun refuses to stop beating Sungyeol up. Woohyun even spits at Sungyeol's face as a parting gift before allowing himself to get dragged to the car by Sunggyu.
"You shouldn't have punched him so many times," Sunggyu scolds, but he has a smile on his face, as he bandages Woohyun's hands. "Look what happened to your hands."
"He was being such an asshole," Woohyun replies, wincing as Sunggyu accidentally presses on a knuckle. "And I hate how he was teasing you like that."
"Thank you, Namstar," Sunggyu says softly, gently kissing Woohyun on his cheek. "You know, for standing up for me."
"What are boyfriends for?" Woohyun laughs, kissing Sunggyu back. "You shouldn't have stopped me though..."
"I think you broke his nose, Woohyun. That's enough," Sunggyu laughs as Woohyun grumbles about wanting to punch all of Sungyeol's teeth out and gorge out his eyeballs.
Sunggyu laughs once more, silently thanking the Heavens for such a wonderful boyfriend like Woohyun.
No one else is better than you.

"I'm so tired," Sunggyu mumbles as he slips into bed that night. He has had a long day at work and all he wants to do is sleep and rest his exhausted body. "Goodnight, baby," Sunggyu whispers, looking at his boyfriend who is intently reading a book.
Woohyun doesn't seem to hear him so Sunggyu sits up and says, a little louder this time, "I'm going to sleep, love." Woohyun, who usually sleeps later than Sunggyu, would normally kiss Sunggyu goodnight but this time, he just continues reading, as if he didn't hear anything that Sunggyu has just said. Woohyun is ignoring him (and for reasons he doesn't know and not really want to know because he just wants to sleep).
Sunggyu is really exhausted by now, and he is not in the mood to deal with Woohyun's moodswings and especially not when he's about to sleep. He leans forward to kiss Woohyun on the lips but stops when Woohyun turns his head.
"Don't kiss me," Woohyun's voice is low and it is the kind of low that he uses when he is angry at Sunggyu but doesn't want to say so. Sunggyu sinks back to his pillow, stifling a groan.
"What's wrong," Sunggyu asks, not at all trying to keep his annoyance away from his voice.
"You know what is wrong," Woohyun snaps his book close and flings it to the floor. "So you tell me."
"I don't. Just- okay. What's wrong? Why are you angry at me?"
Woohyun purses his lips and folds his arms, not even looking at Sunggyu, who is trying hard not to cry out in frustration. If he doesn't get at least six hours of sleep tonight, he will kill everybody in his office.
"Stop being such a girl and tell me what's wrong!" Sunggyu demands, sitting back up again, fisting the bedsheets in attempt to stop those fists from flying into Woohyun's face. "What the fuck, Woohyun, I'm trying to sleep here and there you are being an angry bitch for no reason-"
"Go and fucking sleep then!" Woohyun bellows, pushing Sunggyu roughly back into bed. He gets out of bed after snatching nearly all the pillows and blankets, storming outside to the living room, muttering angrily about purple ties and hating purple.
Sunggyu lies on his bed, his ears ringing from Woohyun's words. Purple ties? He finally understands and nearly breaks the door open to explain to his boyfriend, who is already sprawled onto the couch. There is no way in the world that Sunggyu is sleeping without a goodnight kiss from the man he loves most in the world over a fucking purple tie, and especially not because of a tie, no matter the colour.
"Sweetie?" Sunggyu carefully steps over towards the couch and is startled to hear soft sobs coming from it. "Aww, Woo, don't, don't cry..." He places a hand on Woohyun's back, internally sighing in relief when his boyfriend doesn't push it away.
"Purp- purple tie," Woohyun chokes out, turning around and getting up so Sunggyu can sit next to him.
Sunggyu pats Woohyun on the back and rests his head on Woohyun's, "It's not what you think, Woohyun. It's for Hoya and no, no don't cry! Just hear me out okay?" Sunggyu consoles Woohyun as he cries even harder in his arms. "He's dating my sister, and noona asked me to get a present for their third month together because the shop selling the tie is close to my office... not because of anything else, alright? I swear upon my life and you can even call noona up, you can ask her!"
Woohyun stops crying and finally looks up at Sunggyu, "So you're not cheating on me?"
"Why would I?" Sunggyu smiles, kissing Woohyun on the forehead. He cups Woohyun's face and looks him straight in the eyes, "You cook for me, you iron my clothes, you take me out on ice-cream dates, you call me handsome every day, you punch mean people for me (Woohyun chuckles a little, recalling the Sungyeol incident), you kiss me well... I love you, Woohyun, I really do. There's nothing better than being with you, being in love with you. Believe me."
"I love you too," Woohyun murmurs into Sunggyu's chest, trying hard not to burst into tears again (because he truly believes Sunggyu and also because he feels so ashamed of himself for being so overly jealous). "And I'm sorry for doubting you, Sunggyu. I- I just don't want to lose you."
"How could you ever lose me, silly," Sunggyu kisses Woohyun again, this time on the lips. He takes Woohyun's hand and encloses it with his own. "See how our hands fit like this, see how perfect it is? This is who we are, Woohyun, we're perfect for each other and even if one day, we don't talk to each other anymore, we'll always be this perfect. Nothing can change that."
"I love you," Woohyun repeats, giving Sunggyu's hand a tight squeeze. "Nothing can change that. Ever."
end.
