define north america

In American and Canadian English (and perhaps even in British English, though not necessarily so -- please confirm if you can), the term North America includes only Canada and the US of A. Mexico is exclusively excluded from the term. (Mexico is instead said to be part of Latin America.) Feel free to share your surprise, if any.
