And I have no idea what the difference is, if there's a difference. Based on my own non-botanist quick-trip to wikipedia, it appears they might be the same thing under different names, but I don't really know, nor do I know why they would have different names.
All I know is that when I did quick google images search last night to check if these were really waterlilies, enough pictures came up that looked pretty much like these to give me the confidence to call them that. :-)
