i cried a little at work when i heard about this...
it also saddens/frustrates me how few younger queers know their history/historical figures.

hope is the key word. it's unfortunate that such important histories go unknown, and i only hope that those who didn't know and respect who she was will read about her, come to know her, and really appreciate the work she and Phyllis and countless other did

I keep seeing that picture of her and her wife just after they got married (the second time) with all the people standing around clapping and crying and it gets me every damn time.

Same. In the article Phyllis Lyon said that she can't imagine life without Del and I only hope she's getting on alright.
