I have some down time at work, so I decided to check in.  I think I posted updates 2 or 3 times total last year.  I blamed Facebook for a long time, but I haven't really been posting to FB much lately either.  Really, it's just habit; I've gotten out of the habit of writing.  Although, my reading is back up, a book or two a week on average.  I ( Read more... )

Vermont sounds delightful to me. However, since most of C's family is on the Bay Area, so moving that far away would be awfully hard on her. Some place like Santa Rosa or Monterey might be realistic for us in a few years when our student loans are paid off and we have a little more wiggle room financially. I don't even want to think about having to find another job right now.

Yep, that was ironic in an entirely bad way. I like Monterey too. I also like Chico, in which a couple of our friends live. It reminds me of where I went to grad school in that there are some nice parks and enough bookstores and cafes to keep me happy, and it's easy to get around town, park, etc., even if by California standards, it's more Republican.

It's nice to get a hefty update. I'm sorry about the job situation (per FB.) It's amazing how old your daughter is already! I remember when you met Cheryl.

Thanks, Dave. The timing on this LJ update and the very different FB update is slighly embarrassing.

It's crazy. I met Cheryl over 8 years ago, and we've been married for about 6 and a half. I do remember my initial giddy updates about falling in love. It somehow feels impossible that it was that many years ago, and in other ways it feels like a few lifetimes ago.
