Cellular providers "lock" the phones so they can only work on their network. With a certain code, you can unlock a phone, and then it should be usable on any cellular company's network (provided you have a valid SIM card for that network). Cell companies seem to hate giving out these codes, but I really have no idea why.
The main problem I have with Cingular is the crap reception we get around here, and we have had troubles for 2 years now. I had great reception with AT&T, but once I switched to Cingular? Total crap.
At this point, I'm hoping that once we switch on the 6th, they will finally give up the DiVinci Code.
