Calling Computer Nerd Friends

May 17, 2006 18:39

Long story short I am getting a free laptop. I have to choose one. I need your help. They sent me an email asking if I would prefer a Mac or PC. What do I ask now? Isn't that question a little vague? What should I choose? I could use some advice. Send it my way friends.

There is no choice needed... a mac is the way to go, hands down. If you need reasons why, check out www.apple.com/getamac .. Or look at what dieter uses, or what I use, or what my mother uses.

As I mentioned last night, the thing to do is ask for a "MacBook". Trust us. Join Us. One of Us. One of Us. One of Us.

Will you use it in your school? Then it's "what they'll support in your school."

If this thing is primarily for your personal use and you like my computer, I say head to the Apple store ASAP and ask for one of the last G4 Powerbooks. First generation Apple anything (like the Macbooks that are coming out now) is always broken, then safe to buy after the first revision.

Know that if you get a Mac you'll be finding your own solutions to some problems that might occur in using that computer to do your job. You can ask my brother about that. This is easy for we nerds, but I don't picture you spending the time to do it, and I may not always be there.

If you think you'd be more comfortable/capable with a Windows machine, get a Thinkpad from Lenovo. They're the least shitty Windows laptop there is.

Mac is supported here. I can get the technical support I need at school so that won't be a problem. What do you mean you may not always be there:(?

Maybe I should have said "near to hand."

you did the right thing. I agree with jim about the Lenovo, but even if you have problems with the Mac side, all of the Macs are now also top-end windows laptops as well. bad jim for forgetting that.

what jim means about him not always being around is that he's pretty sure, like me, that you and casey are eventually going to start "dating" and you're totally going to abandon us for the isle of lesbos.
