dirty informants, dirty cops? update from Chesapeake

Some big news in the Ryan Frederick case: Radley Balko has updates here and here.  If true, it may reveal a level of police misconduct regarding the raid on Frederick's home that led to the death of a Chesapeake police detective that nearly rivals the Kathryn Johnston case in Atlanta.

I will provide more details later in my blog A Thousand Cuts.

police, drugs, raids

Did I mention that Maryland is awesome? In Baltimore, our Mayor just got her house raided by the state prosecutor's office. The state's attorney just said the murder victim of a brutal murder didn't look like he had been beaten. He looked like he was asleep. She never saw the body, and the wife of the murder victim who has been working hard for tougher prosecution (since the people who curb stomped her husband never got charged with murder.) And Rikki Specter, one of the district representatives who lives in a large development just had a formal complaint launched against her. Not because she doesn't live in her district and lives in the large development but because she did not recuse herself from being the deciding vote in deciding whether the developer should get to build more giant penises on the water. (Obviously, they won. Will the complaint change that?)
