One of the big advantages of the hemi back when muscle cars were popular was that the combustion chamber design was a way to increase the compression ratio without increasing the size of the block.

The 'new' hemis didn't offer that, since they're still compression-limited by the octane ratings of unleaded gas. Some minor advantages in pre-ignition mixing were there, but Hemi was far and away primarily a marketing ploy. I'm not sorry to see it pass.

It's more that it compensates for higher compression by positioning the spark plug dead center in the combustion chamber, making them remarkably pre-detonation resistant.

That think about Hemis is going to make the 2008 Challengers worth quite a bit, at some point.

Man, I fucking hate government interference.

I think that paper engine might well be worth $95C
