what is a photo agent exactly?

exactly the same as a model agent for the most part. you rep photographers and get a % off every job they do. Like if they make $5,000 a day usually you get 20% of that amount on top for the agency fee. Some agencies even negotiate so they can take 20% off the $5,000 so in reality they are getting 40% of $5,000. We have agents schedule time to come in our office and then bring a bunch of their photographers portfolios. Anyone who wants to check them out will come look through them, etc. If there is one we really like we might use them in the future. Kinda like a photographer go see. The bigger photographers agents don't have to pedal them because people are knocking down their door to get time. If you are not afraid to chat people up and be persistent even when you feel a bit bothersome, you would do well. you can't be intimidated by people that is for sure! that's why I don't know if I would do well as an agent. I need to toughen up before I could consider it. im too sensitive!
