Really excellent job of making the setting feel tangible... and the way in which you wrote their hopes being dashed really made my heart ache for them. I just wanted to give them a hug in the end.

Thank you. I'm glad the sympathetic characters shined through in the final draft. The original draft, the two scientific researchers were very unrelatable. Jeremy's need to have his faith rewarded was a lot more unbelievable in the original draft as a 50-something year old photo-engineer. I reduced his age to show a corrupted naivety.

Yes, but the debate is an ancient one, dating back to Plato's The Republic and his philosopher kings; is the truth of knowledge always worth the price paid? The Theory of Forms says yes, as it's the only reality.
