U.S. folks: read up on the effect of last year's stimulus check on your taxes. The gist is, make sure you now how much you got and have that info on hand when you file your taxes, and it shouldn't affect most people's returns. I was just baffled by that whole thing and even though I'm really good at taxes, I couldn't muddle through the early instructions on it.

I have no IDEA if I got it or not. I owed the IRS some taxes and it was not easy for me to tell whether or not I got it and if so how much and.. bleh. I just wrote in the letters that make them figure it for you. I'm assuming I don't qualify, but didn't want to miss it if I do. I'm just happy I got my taxes in so early this year and that I'm getting monies back even without any stimulus!

I didn't get one last year because I didn't work and, thus, didn't file any taxes, so they decided to throw in an extra $600 this year, bringing my grand total from federal and state to $10,000 exactly. Dear lord, I love tax time.
