It wasn't moving a whole lot, and there was a lot of blood everywhere. I didn't care to check it's pulse ("just get out of there" is erased, then written over) but I doubt it had one.

Like I said, he looked it. He wasn't breathing, and there was a lot of blood everywhere. Impaled on a tree root, too. I don't think anyone could survive that.
