Today, on the other hand, I start with a "very close but not quite" rejection from Fantasy Magazine. Whose submission process, by the way, I'm quite impressed with--though it seems likely to be as prone to being compulsively checked as package shipment tracking is!

"A Phoenix By Any Other Name"--I haven't really talked about it much. It's a really old short story that I recently heavily revised and started submitting. I went through a whole bunch of old stories and cleaned up those I thought had potential.
