Bad News Knee

Called the doctor, and was able to talk through things over the phone (thus negating the need for a doctor's visit and a co-pay, not to mention a trek to the hospital!). Bad news. The MRI results show that I have an acute tear in my ACL.

The ACL is one of the ligaments that does not heal on its own. It would require surgery to be fully repaired, ( Read more... )

My sister partially tore her ACL on her first skiing trip (I told her so). She never bothered to get it repaired, and still manages to jog, but it bothers her when she is carrying things up and down stairs.

Me, I have a wandering patella, and if there was something I could do that would make it so I was less likely to have it meander off into the wilderness, believe me, I would.

Just get it amputated. Learn to use various prostheses in both everyday and specialized tasks. Do it. It'll be mega sweet.

Yeah, when I went over for Gen & Chris's party, there were some "I feel your pain" comments, even though I didn't yet know what exactly was wrong with it.

Here's hoping things go well. It sounds like surgery is a not-too-unlikely proposition, but here's hoping.
