I had all kinds of plans to be wonderfully productive and social etc. this week, and then I was caught by The Sick that had Phil the previous two weeks. It seems to be proceeding according to the same schedule, too. After a week of being sick, I feel normal-with-congestion some of the time, and then The Sick hits me over the head and I feel woozy ( Read more... )

who in the last couple of weeks has decided that rather than weaning as planned, she would like to nurse more

That could just be a growth spurt not associated with the weaning, maybe? My daughter increased and decreased her feedings with a lowering trajectory as she (mostly) self weaned as we traveled. By the time we got home from our month long husband's sabbatical, she was done. She was about 19 months old.

Will she take a bottle (or sippy cup) of milk, instead of the boob? I guess what I mean is, see if you can figure out if it's hunger vs comfort. Then try to find an alternate for whichever one it is that she needs.

I weaned Niko at around 1.5 fairly easily, but I've been working away from him since he was 3 months old, so it was just a matter of cutting down on and then ending pumping, and then a few weeks later ending the night nursing, and then a few weeks later ending the morning nursing. (His preference - the morning seemed to be the one he liked most.)

Maybe a combination? She's very emphatic about refusing a milk sippy cup instead, although she drinks from it happily at other times. Cuddling and reading is also not an acceptable substitute. Le sigh.
