That doesn't make sense, though. Why would they spend to test a cancer cure that hasn't had promising effectiveness?

Interesting. For something like cancer, I would assume it would need to promise effectiveness similar to the treatments already out there in order for it to be worth spending the money on, but medical trials are a huge mystery to me.

And don't feel bad--I'm approaching this from an intellectual perspective.
