It was amazing! You should definitely see Prague if you backpack through Europe. But I also think the foreign services test might be a good option for you. I think it would fit your personality. I went to the US embassy while I was in the Czech Republic, and it seemed like a very cool place to work. Tech positions are available as well as PR positions, ya know.
As someone who meets all of these qualities save one (left as an exercise to the reader), I'll chime in.
When I nearly quit my job last year, my plan before I started my new one was to take a vast western road trip. I was going to see bunches of national parks, take cool hikes, camp every place, and bathe primarily in rivers and creeks, or perhaps in a city every week or so.
The nice part about camping is that it's quite cheap, so you can drag this out for at least a summer and see all sorts of awesome things.
There are some cool backcountry hot springs in Idaho that would be cool to check out.
I'd travel around Africa. It's cheap (once you get there), and a place that's harder to visit as you get older and less able/willing to deal with excessive heat. Or join the Peace Corps. Or both!
