Atlanta is the hardest library to contact ever. Seriously, I've called FIVE times today and spoken to FOUR different people. Grrrrrrr.
Still worth it though!
And excellent job! We are going to have a lot of money now, I promise this time, so we should be able to fund a lot of these. I think we'll have over 1000 left.
I spoke to the acquisitions manager of Chicago Public Libraries, and she said they WON'T accept the donation.
They just don't carry TV shows at all! BOOO. She was grateful for the offer, but she said they just don't carry any TV shows, and don't plan to. I'm so sad.
What should we do about Chicago? Or, I guess those sets can go elsewhere... or we could lobby Blockbuster or something... bummer.
I'm sorry! That's frustrating. Would you mind checking out other library systems: maybe Lake and DuPage county? I bet those areas are included in the Chicago Nielsens, and if not: we can still say we hit that market (I'm sure some Chicagoland commuters have Lake County library cards).
Yeah, it really sucks! But I'll happily try some of the surrounding counties. We could also keep some of the University libraries in mind. There are many within Chicago.
I'll let you know what I discover about the Lake and DuPage Counties though. You don't happen to have some phone numbers already for those areas, do you? I can look them up, but thought I'd ask. :)
Well, I just found this great website (Every Library in Illinois) that lists contact information, by County or City or whatever, of...every library in Illinois. Here is the link to the county page. Most of them are school districts, but it looks like all Public and University libraries are also in there. http://www.eliillinois.org/cgi-bin/eli/allbycounty.pl The links for each library take you to a page with phone number/website/etc.
