May 25, 2006 22:50

Here's the new plan: donations to all 50 states and the top 100 Nielsen markets by the season 3 premiere! You do not have to donate anything to help! If you can contact any of these libraries to confirm that donations would be accepted, just sign up for who you are contacting in the comments.
As of 6/14 we are over 230 donations! That's more ( Read more... )

contact list, donate, dvd campaign, volunteers needed, libraries, request

I'll totally take on Baltimore -- I just realized that a friend recently got a job as a librarian there, and she's a big VM fan, too, so I should be able to figure out some way to get the DVDs into their system.

Called Milwaukee. Contact name there is Virginia Schwartz (spelling?). I left a voice mail for her since she didn't answer her phone.

Called Green Bay. Contact is Kasha Kerwin at (920)448-4405, ext. 204. She said that the DVD's would likely be put into a circulating collection, going to any of a variety of branches. She did say that once a donation is in their hands, they can always earmark it for the Friends of the Library sale, but she was confident that the DVD's would make it into circulation.

And, for the record, since both the Appleton and Green Bay branches have 2 sets (possibly the same, shared 2 sets?), I'd donate to Green Bay before Appleton - everything else being equal - if only because Green Bay is bigger in size and is also further from Milwaukee. (operating under the presumption, of course, that my two sets will go to VM'less Milwaukee)

That's my two cents, anyhow. And, for the record, with Kasha or whatever, above, it could have been Sasha, it could have been Tasha ... It *sounded* like Kasha, but that's just such an odd name, that now I'm second-guessing myself.

Okay, I've been playing phone tag with the woman from MPL, but I left another message today specifying what series, exactly, we were interested in possibly donating and asking her to confirm that they would be put into circulation rather than allocated to the Friends of the Library sale. I haven't heard anything back yet, and I was hoping to get confirmation and drop them off tomorrow.

Eh, I'll be down in Milwaukee again next week, so hopefully I can take care of this then. =crosses fingers=

I'll try to contact the Columbus Metro. Libraries (or another library in the area if they don't take donations, I shelve at one of the suburban libraries that shares a catalog with CML so I'll probably try there first if CML won't take it), and have 1 set to donate if they'll take it

Hey, if your suburban library will take it, feel free to donate there instead of Columbus (if that's easier for you). They are in the same Nielsen market and share a catalog, so it doesn't make a difference for the campaign. Just let me know when you have donated and where. Thanks!

Just wanted to let you know that I just got an e-mail from Amy S, who previously contacted the Columbus Metro library and was told that VM DVDs would most likely be donated to Friends of the Library sale.

I'm available to contact more libraries - I'll call Portland if you don't already have someone doing it. Let me know if you want me to call others - I'll do as I'm told :)

Portland is great. Thanks for the donations to Gonzaga/Eastern Washington, too!

Written on a myspace Veronica Mars group: I bought three sets because they were on sale for 26.99 at Target last week, I plan on donating one set to the Local library (Owatonna,
MINNESOTA) and the another to the local video rental place inside the grocery store, the third I'm giving to my friend for her birthday.

And another thing: My mom is the assistant librarian at a local library here in Texas and she's been getting calls like *crazy* asking if people can donate the first season of Veronica Mars.

Bergie.
